Dragonfry

I agree with you on the " My dog has papers" then I ask" can he read?" Papers for most part are of no use because most dogs are not breed worthy.

Oh Paul that is so true!

Tell you a funny story, when i worked for the vet. One of the Techs brough a dog to my area and asked me what breed i thought the dog was? From the general shape and size it looked to be a poorly bred shetland sheep dog. About 12' tall, long thing muzzle and fluffy sable and white coat.
Tech tells me it's papers say it's a "Toy Pom" Which is seriously a WTF!! because aren't poms toys breeds already?? So i asked if i could see it's "papers" Which turned out to simply be a list of pet names like Jones Sissy and Thomases' Charlie. Not a single registered name to be found or a registration number any where. But as i read through the paper work i had to laugh. Because one of the dog listed was "Joshua's Keleb" And Keleb was about a #110 male American Bulldog! Not a stud pom.
So i told the owner he got taken, the dog was not a "Toy" anything is was already 4 months old and over 12 inches. It was clearly a sheltie mix, and the owner of the pet store is a lyer and theif!
When he asked what he should do i told take it back to the pet store, demand a partial refund because the dogs was not as advertised and or give them the dog back and get your money.
Don't know if he ever took my advice but that same pet store/puppy peddler has ripped off many a person in my area. I still can't figure out how they stan in business.
Papers my arse!

When I'm out with my Rottweiler (a Service Animal, mind you) and people ask me if she's going to eat their children...Yes, ignore the vest, ignore her calm personality, ignore the fact that YOU saught US out (not the other way around), my dog will eat your children.

Dunno if this translates from Britain to the Americas,
but one of my pet hates is:
[Of a neutered bitch]  "I had her spayded."

No, Hundmutter, it's SPADE-ed, you know, they dug the ovaries out with a spade...  Roll eyes

I hear it quite frequently from the uneducated on this side of the pond.

Top 5

#1 Sheppard.  When I first started with the vet I use now they had it misspelled on the rabies certificate.  Needless to say I requested a copy with the correct spelling.

#2 Spaded.  Surgery is out in the garden.

#3 Confirmation.  I guess their dogs are religious.

#4 LymeS.  For whatever reason the "S" that a lot of people add on bothers the crap out of me.

#5 Relatives or close friends that ask for your free advice on dog training, don't follow through and then continue to complain about their dogs.  Now I tell them to go to a class/private lesson.  I think they value the advice more if they have to pay for it.

I had a vet that spelled it SHEPPARD as well on one of my dogs rabies cert. I made them reprint it as well. That is my #1 pet peeve.

It irritated me so much that I emailed the Zinger crate company and told them that Shepherd is NOT spelled "Sheppard"... I never heard back....lol. The sad part was I was actually interested in one of their crates.... hmmm, oh well.

I hear "Spaded" all the time at my work. I just roll my eyes now

Or when I ask them what kind of dog they have it is.... "I have an AKC papered pure breaded .... "

I too have called or e-mailed places that have misspelled shepherd.

Just for laughs I'll call Zinger tomorrow and ask them what kind of dog a sheppard is.
