Hickoryhill is a small hobby kennel that has been dedicated to breeding German shepherds since the early 1980's.Our focus has always been the total German shepherd as described in our AKC breed standard. We beleive that equal emphasis on temperament, structure, movement and overall breed type is what makes the complete dog as described in the breed standard. A correctly bred German shepherd is the ideal family companion. Potential buyers must keep in mind that the AKC is not a "quality control" organization, it is a registry. Therefore breeders are left to set their own standard bars as to the quality of dogs they breed. It is imperative that when considering the purchase of a GSd puppy or adult dog, that the  buyer be judicious in choosing a breeder. Cleanliness of the facility, care of the dogs/puppies, and the knowledege of the breed and bloodlines are of the utmost importance. The breeder should have a 'working" knowledge of the breed either by successfully competing in conformation shows or performance/obedience trials. The breeder should have also bred( not just purchased) GSD's that have successfully attained either championship or working titles. At Hickoryhill, we have a limited breeding program consisting of 1-2 litters a year. This allows us to provide a great deal nurturing to our puppies! Although our breeding program is limited, it has been very successful. We are the breeders of 2000 US Grand Victor, Ch. Hickoryhill's Bull Durham, ROM, TC, HIC, and 2004 Grand Victrix Ch. Hickoryhill's Godiva Sirius Park as well as numerous other Select champions and performance titled dogs. We proof that it is not necessary to breed an abundant amount of litters in order to achieve success! We have puppies occasionally available to families.
