And my really smart one know's when I am speaking to a different dog in a different language than he is trained in !! I am with Jenni ... Mine know when I am angry and wait and see who is really in trouble!!
But the universal "dammit"  gets all of their attention.. that comment made me smile !!

I have one czech bitch who knows french, finnish, russian, german, english, sound effects (boom, pow, kazoom etc) as well as hand signals. Normally I do straight up Russian becase I have BRT's and am russian myself but she was so damn smart I just kept teaching her for shits and giggles. I think it's fun as hell and sure does confuse people lol

This might be a whole other topic that I am going to ask..
ok.. I work with several different police officers and trainers.. and dogs that have been imported from all over the world..
I would like help from different people from different countries with the different language for the specific commands.. did that make sense ? haha.. ok.. like a list from everyone with the different commands in their language.. That would be cool to learn all of the terms used out there.. I heard "lock" the other day.. It was probably spelled "lach".. I thought it was Czech.. but not sure.. it meant "out" or let go..(which the dog didnt let go of the sleeve anyway)
but I am thinking new topic.. I would love to hear from everyone what they use and have few laughs too !! I know one cop that used "pizza" for his release.. instead of "take a break" or 'ok  " which we say in every conversation.. he used 'pizza' ... that was hilarious.. better than 'donut'.. oh ouch !!! Omg Smile     sherry

you can tell I am bored alone on this Christmas day !! LOL

Swingfield, here ya go! If the command is underlined, you can click on it to hear the correct pronunciation!

oh my god.. that is awesome !! thank you sunsilver!!  Although I am still confused at what this one handler was saying.. "LOCK.. LOCK.. LOCK'  while the dog was on the sleeve and not letting go AT ALL !!  pinch collar.. and of course the more he said 'LOCK" the more the dog got aggressive and shook more.. its not the dogs action .. it was the word I had never heard.. I didnt see it or hear it on that list.. oh well.. who knows.. next time I see him I will ask.. I had heard it once before from a cop in upstate New York and Mark Przybylski when we used to train together.. (a hundred years ago) !     I am going to save that link thank you !! Sherry

Shelly, remember how the koer reports say "Lass aus" or "lass nicht aus"?  I think it's another language's variation of the same verb. "Lassen aus" is the German for 'let go'. If you look at that list, in Dutch, it's 'los'.

What language was the guy training in?

That was my question too !! haha.. I didnt pay a whole lot of attention to what he was doing.. I could have sworn he said it was a Czech dog. .. but I distincly heard the cop saying "Lock" while trying to get him off the sleeve! I listened to all of the versions on that site.. but it doesnt come close to what I heard... who knows.. maybe the original trainer had some sort of variation of a command that got lost in translation along the way.. or the handler didnt know what he was really saying..
or he was even told wrong !!   maybe he meant 'pizza' too !! hahaha

Bi-lingual dogs make great interpreters. Whenever I have to talk to the Inuit people, my Sibes always translate for me and tell me exactly what they're saying.

ahh..GSD how did I know you would have the answer?? I need to get one of them thar dogs !! but then we all need a 'special needs' dog for our own use sometimes for sure.. they are smarter than us.. just ask them !

Siantha.. I figured that he had slaughtered the command somehow after asking around.. but smart cops.. you cant tell them anything !
