Malcolm Willis says he thinks his information on Vello in the 1976 book was incorrect and that he was never angekoert due to being oversize 67 cm.. He also says he may have been a source of "Pituitary Dwarfism"

You could add "being implicated in the emergence of Elbow Dysplasia"
to this mix, also ! On the Plus side, Vello was reputedly highly trainable,
and a lot of good 'working' dogs in Germany and elsewhere owe their
existence to him.

Is this not also the dog believed to be one of the primary carriers of pituitary dwarfism and possibly pituitary and thyroid problems in the GSD?? According to several sources he is.

Why was this dog not in the BSP he threw some of best working genes and his offspring seemed to keep passing the best working traits on so well

The korung rating of Kkl1 for Vello is a mistake. He did not pass his koer as he was oversize!
