YOU pay the additional health tests, and they ware WELL WORTH the cost! You might consider sending only a deposit or something until all the health tests come back negative.
I got my stud's back, hips, and elbows xrayed, as well as other health tests already mentioned. If the stud's back is not good, it would be hard to have live cover. Also, some European brokers and such use dummy dogs to get the xrays done to substitute for a dog they have for sale which has a great pedigree and not so good hips or elbows. So re-checking the hips and elbows on a dog is a good idea. Expect some wear and tear if he's an older dog done with his career, although I was completely amazed with my stud dog's xrays after a successful career as an international Schutzhund competitor...he could have gone OFA good and normal, I think, at six plus years of age. I have thought about having the OFA certs done also..but it's more expense on top of expense after expense...spending money on dogs never ends, does it? Veronica |
