Also, Blitzen, the sable isn't Zelda, the black and tan in the photos I posted is :)
The sable is Ch Alkarah's Lady Liberty

Did you see Mystique? I'm uh..... mature now and have been around for a while. I got interested in GSD's when Gilligan's Island was the star. Didn't get my first until 94, so I've seen most of the historical dogs like Hattar and Mystique, but not many of the current crop of AKC winners. I've been learning about imports. Like them both, can't pick one over the other. Good and bad...........

She is indeed :) I've liked a few of her dogs as well. She always says hi to me at a show.

What wins is determined from the top down and by those who control the breed clubs and is most often very financially rewarding.
The good news is that there is nothing standing in the way of anyone pursuing their goal of the "perfect" GSD. There are breeders producing V rated, KKL1 working line dogs, as well as some who put effort into character of their S/L. It is in the hands of the judge what is going to place at the front of the line, but it is up to the individual what he/she is going to put out there for evaluation.
and that's JMO,
Rik
