Thanks EduCanine. I suspected the the dog was more than one (1) year of age. I am glad that your story had a happy ending. Best Regards, Bob-O

Hi all, I had a Siberian Husky that I checked for testicles when I picked him from the litter at 6 weeks (both descended) and it never occurred to me to re-check him when I picked him up at 8 weeks. But bathing him a day later I found only one descended testicle! I wanted to show him, so here in Australia once he turned 6 months I could not show him anymore. But I'm patient! At 9 1/2 months, without any intervention and only occasional checking, he had 2 descended testicles. He's 7 yrs now and has never had a sick day in his life, nor at any time did I have any aggression or behaviour problems that were out of the ordinary. I waited on the advice of my vet, rather than panic and neuter him. He has never been used at stud and if I was to use him, it would have been to a bitch with a clear family history, so it kind of was a moot point. He was always fun to show and was a great working dog to boot. I would not panic with your 4 month old puppy! Good luck :)

there is a holistic item called pitglan that sometimes works it stimuates the pituitary gland i have had it work twice but the pups need to be under 5 months

I have a 14month male who is my current schutzhund dog, he is cryptorchid, he was originally planned for show and schutzhund but obvoiusly we have shelved the show plans, I have detected no obvious behavior problems, he is a good sport dog and family member, hence we kept him. His breeder is replacing my 'show dog' free of charge when she next has a good male puppy. Meanwhile he will be castrated and his missing testicle removed in the next couple of months. This is the second cryptorchid I have purchased the first had both then one went back up again, the current guy we took a chance on, so I guess I'm unlucky, however in both cases it has not caused any side effects. My current 'odd ball' has so ingratiated himself here that we would not consider selling him dispite offers from schutz sporters and others, I hope this helps ease your worries.

Where do I buy this pitglan?  I just bought my second dog that looks like he may be cryptochid and am just SICK.  I was searching the internet for SOMETHING/ANYTHING to help me.  My dog is not a German Shepherd, but when I saw your success with this stuff, it gave me hope.  He is only 3.5 months old and I am wanting to try to get that thing to drop!  Please email me at feafur@yahoo.com to help me know where to buy. Thanks so much, Kim

Just to let everyone know......I never did find pitglan and ended up selling my pup to a great pet home.  Thanks for all the emails wishing me luck with it and all the others who were looking to purchase it also.  I hope you all have better luck finding it than I did!  Sincerely, Feafur

Check the pup when you buy it, the testicles should be descended already at weaning age.  If the testicles are not descended, chances are that they never will.

Sometimes the scrotum might have a fatty deposit, this fools an inexperienced vet or breeder and makes them think there are two testicles when there is only one.  So a breeder is not necessarily intentionally decieving anyone.

We have a male whose second testicle descended at 8 months.  Our vet said he wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't done both exams - as 8 week old pup and at 8 months.  Not likely but it certainly happens.
