Compare and contrast:

Tell me again how the American GSD lines are all horribly-structured and bear so little resemblance to the 'real' GSD [read: European lines] that they should be forced to rename them "American Show Shepherds"?

Xeph, she looks beyond lovely.  I do think you owe it to us to share that very special picture of your sable male that's on the same site as this photo of Vixie...I think you know the one I'm thinking of--that great shot that you could not have posed him that way if you'd tried?

[I suppose I should identify the two dogs on either side of Xeph's bitch: the darker dog to the right of Vixie is Nessel van Haus Antverpa; the lighter one to the left of Vixie is Pirol van't Enclavehof. Yeah, I realize I'm comparing two males to a bitch, but the silhouettes of these two dogs has long been very fixed in my mind's files, and they're the first two that sprang up when I looked at the structure of Xeph's girl. I'd go pull up some females but I've used up the time I allotted myself for a break from work at the moment. Feel free to do your own research.]

Xeph - all of the Am lines should look like your dogs.... beautiful!!

by hexe on 28 March 2013 - 23:03

Yes!!! That's the one!  I love this picture!!!!  He's permitted such tomfoolery, being still a pup as he is. Wink Smile

He's an extremely nice looking sable boy, Xeph [I know he does not sport his 'fizbee lips' in the ring], though I would prefer a darker color to the eye. Eye color has no effect on visual accuity, and is certainly not as critical as the structure and temperament of a dog, however;  and so far the former looks good, and you don't seem the type to campaign a dog with poor character.

[And I have to say that the pictures of Strauss are beautiful, and made me tear up a bit. I am so weak when it comes to the senior dogs. Heart]

Don't feel bad.  I saw the pictures of Strauss in the grass and teared up myself.  Having a hard time accepting that my boy is going to be 9.  What is that crap? LOL

and so far the former looks good, and you don't seem the type to campaign a dog with poor character.

I'm not, which is why, after talking to her breeder, after Vixie has her first season, she will be spayed.  She hates showing, had a bit of a meltdown in the ring during the futurity.  She's a safe dog, but her nerves aren't there.  She's also missing a tooth ( Because why wouldn't she be?).  She handles the show environment relatively well, but not being examined.  Stresses her out.

Normally this would hurt a lot more, but her breeder is incredibly supportive, understands, isn't upset, etc.  She's offered a replacement when she has something and when I'm ready for one.  In the mean time, Vixieboo is hanging out and having fun here.

Xeph, who was the judge for the Philly show? I THINK he's the same guy who judged the Shiloh Shepherd specialty 2 years ago. Darned if I can remember his name, but he was a wonderful judge, and  gave each competitor a detailed critique of their dog's strengths and weaknesses!

Dawulf, MOST ASL's today DO look much like Xeph's dogs. Go to a few bigger AKC shows and you'll see.
