there are different levels of "civil". from biting with no provocation other than there is something there to bite to biting quickly with some provocation other than handler directed.
one high level competition dog I knew attacked his very high level competition handler after a third high level electrical shock that was probably unfair. The dog did a pretty good job of payback.
another more average sch 3 dog bit his handler in the face because the handler was preventing the dog from getting to the owner during ring training.
another ended up placed with the president of a club I was in after a viscous attack on his owner for a very slight correction,
I would consider all these "civil" actions. Maybe someone else has a different opinion.
I would also consider the "seven monkeys dancing on the head of a pin" response to be from a clown, but everybody to their own.

You are clearly an anti-intellectual that needs to read more. I would rather be on the side of Oxford professor Richard Dawkins than on the side of someone who considers anything other than dogs, his 1970 rusted pick up truck, or BJ and the Bear re-runs a threat.
You can get back to being a sheeple now.

how old are you. insults are all you got? dude, it's a GSD message board. let's talk GSD, not rusted pick up trucks. you got a GSD that ever did anything but poop in your backyard?
it is a thread about "civil" gsd. and all you got is monkeys dancing on a pin head to someone who probably washed out better GSD than you have ever owned.
CLOWN
but again,

Some of us actually actively think about dog training as we work with them out on the field. It appears that you seem to feel safe with "monkey see, monkey do" training (AKA blind leading the blind). Intellectuals will always get better results than some hillbilly that just goes out on the field and wings it. But then again you have to work with what you got. I understand your situation, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane.

I really REALLY hope that this isn't Rik Wolterbeek...
(Edited: False alarm. Just another irrelevant loudmouth who has a history of abusing site members. Why not use that energy to train dogs, Rik? Or is that too much of a challenge?)

And I would like to remind everyone to use some manners
If we have to stoop to name calling then please do not post, it in no way shows any intelligence on your part.

Well what do you expect people to do when they are called a "clown" simply for making a point using adult-level rather than sheeple-level concepts? Amazing that Rik the Clown hasn't been banned from this site based on his past behavior.
