Yesterday I was driving back home returning from Cairo (Capital of Egypt) to Alexandria City where I live taking the desert high way.

Approximately mid way I noticed from a distance 5 small objects crawling in different directions on the asphalt which for the first 2 seconds I thought they were rubber pieces from a blown up vehicle's tire that pushed by the wind.  I concentrated a bit & my wife sitting next to me was astound & shocked to hear me suddenly screaming with the driving wheel in my hands dancing & the car bouncing left & right, Puppiiies Puppiiiies.

Believe me or not I stopped the car in the middle of the road just few meters from the blind crawling puppies with the flasher on forgetting the strong possibility of a horrible accident that could have taken place due to my stupid action. Together with my wife we left the car trying our best to gather up & collect  the puppies which were scattered at different directions / areas  & all the swift cars, trucks, motor bikes behind us either stopping & / or deviating to avoid hitting both ourselves & the poor puppies.

We were badly insulted by the majority of the drivers who did not recon what we were doing & / or appreciated by few who were urging us to fulfill our mission successfully.

It took us approximately 40 seconds to do the job & to rescue the 5 blind puppies putting them at a safe place on the side of the road that they cannot climb back to the road itself. However when back to our car sweating & panting we felt it was at least 30 minutes

By the way forget to tell you, they were wolf puppies & not dog puppies. Sure that their mother will reach them later.

OMG! Wolf puppies! I wish you had your camera...wow. Thank goodness you didn't get hurt being a good person doing a good deed. Thanks for telling your story, and sharing.

OMG!  How in the world did they end up there?  Good for you and thank goodness you didn't get run over yourself.  It must have been quite a sight the two of you dodging cars and gathering up the pups.  I hope their mother did find them and they are safe.  I'm still wondering how in the world....?

Tarek,

I wonder why the mother would have placed them there?

You and your wife have very big hearts and I am glad that you were not injured.

Bless you both,

Michele

Beetree-I had my mobile telephone camera with me, however since the car was stopped in the middle of the road I wanted to return as fast as possible to hinder any possible collisions. After we had left I regretted for not taking any pictures.

nonacona60-I have already asked a friend who was returning from Cairo today to check at the same location, but he did not find anything probably their mother moved them.

Pharaoh-Most of the lands around & near by the desert road were reclaimed & many ranches / farms are now founded there & they are not desert lands anymore. Wild wolves now are domesticated by the farmers working in these ranches who feed them from time to time or give them their remaining food  & I think the bitch / mother of the puppies whelped in & / or near by one of these ranches & the puppies were moved by a stupid none human farmer to a place near by the road.

I think I would have taken them with me.Especialy if there was a chance of the mom have being killed on the road. I couldn't just leave them.Would be thinking about them scared that they went back in to the road. I would be so upset if I drove back the same way and were to see them dead. Been like that since i was a kid...always taking in animals and rescuing them.

Lavk-9- under the circumstances I think the best one that could have looked after such small puppies of maximum 15 to 16 days which just opened their eyes is their mother. I am sure in this age they cannot climb the 25cms wall I put them behind back to the road. About the mother which I believe is over a year old, I think if she is still alive in this area till this age she is experienced enough to know when to cross the street & when not, therefore I am sure that sooner or later she will find them.

WEll I hope the best for them.Too bad you didn't take a picture of them. I never think of wolves being in Egypt. Actually I would like to see pics of Egypt as well and the area around there.
