Yes we do use pop boxes for article detection rather it be hrd, drugs, chemical, etc. Before we go to the pop box we normally expose the puppy by getting it excited with a ball/toy/tug or other toy saturated in the detectable scent. Teaching the indication seperate. Skipping a few steps, we move to the pop boxes. when the dog is correctly, confidently, and consistantly indicating on the desired scent in a pop box in a familiar environment we then start taking the pop boxes in to different environments (example wooded areas)
After the dog is correctly, confidently, and consistantly indicating on pop boxes in different environments we move back to familiar environments (home) and start fading pop boxes out. but we also use other means of drive builing for scent.
