Any information How was the Protection Work? Regards Redpaw

by crhuerta on 22 April 2007 - 00:04

The only thing that I heard....again,..I wasn't there to confirm it..is that the protection work was not too difficult. BUT,..I don't have any results to pass or fail...only the 2 dogs that I was interested in....and I haven't heard anything else since then.

If you are going by what the schutzhund rules are ( this year sieger protetion was nothing but one big JOKE !!!! The helpers are way to light on ALL the dogs and MOST of the dogs was week in the bite work as far as calling them a working or schutzhund dogs what a joke

K-9 Helser...that is exactly what was told to me..but since I wasn't there...I am "posting" carefully. Did you attend??

The protection work at Sieger Shows is never on a par with what one expects at any other time. It is not intended to be anything near the level of the trial-field protection at even a club trial. It is unfortunate, but there it is. Even when the helpers are national or international level helpers, their work is "dumbed down." So, one does not even need to attend to know that the work is no where near trial level. It is not supposed to be. That will probably not change anytime in the near, or far-distant future. Louise--do you know if the judge will be checking the height on over-size dogs, or checking for dogs that have been dyed?

I saw the working male stand for exams. The judge was measuring them all of them.

the Sieger Shows are always a joke when it comes to the protection work. I have also seen weak work done by very good helpers at kkl. it sucks. there are a lot of dogs out there being breed with all the requirments that probly shouldn't be breed. i think all the helpers need to step up and make correct work regardless of how much money someone pays.

Hmmm, not good. I just heard the same about the protection work yesterday. I know it isn't a working dog trial, but the dogs should at least engage properly.. how disappointing. T-

Are there any videos of the bite work that show this alleged half-a$$ protection work? I would like to see some examples. I've seen video clips of top working dogs and I'm curious to see the difference. I too have heard multiple allegations of helpers going easy on show dogs, and judges going easy on show dogs at breed surveys. I live in the middle of the nowhere in the hills of West Virginia and I would hate to waste the time and expense of a trip to a Sieger show just to see shoddy bite work. That would just piss me off. Does anyone know where to find video clips? I would prefer to see with my own eyes and form my own opinions. Yvette
