I got a 9 month old shepherd that is eating dog poop like it's goin out of style.
I clean up after both my dogs right quick when I'm here.
When I'm at work my husband doesn't take the time to go behind them and clean up this so She eats my older shepherds poo and her own.
Even though I try to avoid it like the plague She even eats other dogs poop she finds when we're out on walks.

I don't want her getting some kind of parasites, worms, or anything else, and it always gives her the worst diarrhea i've ever seen come out of a dog.

I know all the reasons why she might be eating the poop
I need to know How do I stop her from this nasty habit?

add fresh pineapple (1-2 table spoons) to her and your dogs food...pineapple will make all poo taste bitter and she will stop eating it.
there are a lot of threads on here about poo eaters...just do search.

As LF says - do a search on the forum for Coprophagia to locate past discussions.

I like (sorry - the insert url function doesn't always open for me):

I also know some commercial companies make food to repel poop eating.

I know for sure Drs Foster and Smith sell something for it, as does Jeffers Pet

GET THIS NIPPED IN THE BUD OR YOU MAY END UP WITH A VERY SICK DOG. TRY PUTTING A MUZZLE ON HER WHEN YOU WALK HER. AT LEAST MAYBE SHE WON'T EAT DOG POO THAT DOESN'T COME FROM ONE OF YOUR OTHER DOGS. THIS IS SOMETIMES A HARD THING TO  BREAK THEM OF. GOOD LUCK

What kind of food is this dog eating?  My oldest GSD has always had allergy problems, and during our food trialing time she tried eating several different commercial diets.  During one of the trials, it was Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet, she started eating all the poop in the yard.  As soon as I got her off that diet, the poop eating ceased, and she never did it again.  Perhaps this dog is lacking something in it's diet and poop eating is how the dog tries to fix this.

I was feeding Diamond Natural lamb and rice formula. She was eating poo then. I've switched to feeding Purina Pro Plan with Shredded Chicken hoping it would help with some added training but nothing. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm starting the pineapple and muzzle route now. I can't let her keep eating the poop and getting the diarrhea she gets. It can't be good for her

lol@eating poo like it is going out of style....lmao!

Now i thought dogs eating own poop means that the food is rich with whatever and they are going back to get more?
Maybe food is too rich for their body and may need to cut back on how much you feed or change what you are feeding?

Thought about trying raw?
